Event Description
Youth Hair-Making Workshop is a creative and skill-building experience that introduces young participants to the art of hair braiding, styling, and care. This hands-on session fosters cultural pride, self-confidence, and creativity in a fun and supportive setting.
Objective
This workshop is designed to equip youth with foundational hair care and styling skills while encouraging cultural expression and confidence. It promotes creativity, independence, and appreciation for Afro-Caribbean hair traditions passed down through generations.
What to Expect
🔹 Braiding & Styling Basics
Participants will learn the fundamentals of hair parting, sectioning, and beginner-friendly braid techniques from experienced instructors.
🔹 Hair Care Education
Youth will be introduced to proper hair maintenance routines, including moisturizing, detangling, and protective styling tips to promote healthy hair practices.
🔹 Hands-On Practice
Through guided, practical sessions using mannequins and practice tools, participants will build their skills step by step in a supportive and fun environment.
🔹 Cultural Confidence & Expression
The workshop highlights the beauty and significance of Afro-textured hair, encouraging pride in heritage and self-expression through style.
